The natural gas is locked up in shales. The free natural gas in sedimentary rock like sandstone and lime are getting tighter.

The problem with the shales is the permeability of the rocks. So to flow the well you need to perform fracturing and stimulation.

Fracturing is quite expensive and requires lots of water. High pressure water is forced through the rock and gravel and sand is used to hold up the fractures so as to increase its permeability.

I prefer all commercial and residential rooftops producing power. This enormous resource from the SUN should be harnessed.
