revlis - what do you expect that Samsung saved by settling with IDCC at last minute instead of settling early on, or even going the distance in litigation? All prior 3G sales? Lower rate? reduction in 2G? From my seat the reduction in royalties was much greater than the legal fees they paid.

JMO, but neither side wants to go through the doors of the courthouse for the final time. There is risk on both parties.

It's easy to say that settling will save millions in legal fees, but I expect that Nokia is well aware that reduction in royalties, especially in Nokia's case, could be much greater. That being said, I expect that Nokia and Interdigital will settle close to final judgement, as we so often see in this type of litigation.
