Task manager is just a quick turn off for the current session. As soon as you restart, that program will startup like it always does.

To keep it from starting with your computer, go to Start/Run and type in MSCONFIG. Then click on the startup tab and deselect Messenger. Click OK and reboot.

Free at last until you want it again.
