I bet what looks like glass is plastic. I've gone through two of them now.

It's an EKCO all metal with a glass gage, with a plastic holder to clip in your pocket with large letters printed on the side.
DO NOT LEAVE IN ROAST / MEAT

The Do not leave should give you a hint. The glass is plastic.
