Let's not forget that in Phase 1 (prior to 1/1/2002), NOK fully paid for the rights to use IDCC's 2G IPR. (If that's not validation, what is it?). I don't see NOK contesting that (at the moment).

IMO, there are three issues:
a) validity (now a slam dunk with the Ericy agreement),
b) the IPR rate to be paid by NOK, and
c) who or what triggers NOK's rate (IDCC has said that Ericy triggers NOK, NOK says "it aint so", and the arbitrators will decide).

FWIW, I think a settlement will be announced before the arbs decide IF NOK can get some NOK-specific concessions from IDCC. JMO, JK
