borealis - re: office furniture.

while that pre-made office furniture is really nice looking there's a few ways you can get a lot more bang for your buck when it comes to desk space.

if it helps here's what i did. those 19 inch crt's are going to need alot of space. i've got a 3 monitor set-up and i used a corner to put them in. i've got one right in the corner and one on each side of that main monitor. this way they all face me and it's makes it very easy for your eyes to go from one monitor to the other.

for my furniture i went to the local flea-market and picked up some kitchen countertops, lower and upper cabinets. i took the guts out of a lazy susan and used that as the corner base cabinet in the same corner as my monitors. i put the computer itself inside the lazy susan cabinet. i bought a selection of other cabinets so i have plenty of both bulk and drawer storage and spaced the lower cabinets apart so i have some empty floor space for printers, garbage can, etc. all together i think i have about 20 linear feet of desk top space put together in a u-shape for east access to everything.

for my desk i used the same countertop and placed one end on a lower cabinet and the other on top of a two drawer file cabinet. i installed a pre-made and pre-hung drawer under my desk for desk top items.

i like the design and i really liked the price.

hope this helps.
