Slacker, Re: BRCM v QCOM ITC, and

+ (pissed off at QCOM) and “... I expect Qualcomm to deliver chips that are free of IPR problems”

+ “ find it pretty funny how many posts I have read about operators and vendors being angry at Broadcom because they are filing suit. I never read any of these same sentiments when Qualcomm is trying to take Nokia handsets off of the GSM market.”

I guess my posts are “pretty funny”, but IMO the equivalence between Q’s **defensive** actions and the offensive actions (offensive) by the Q’s competitors (NOK6/ POS) is radical.

+ BRCM’s recently purchased patent (extraneous/ obscure/ questionable) was no doubt acquired for the primary intent of “negotiating” leverage with the Q.

+ Jury verdicts WRT patent viability IMO are suspect at best.

+ The Q’s internally developed GPRS/ EDGE IPR appears to be essential, and recognized as such by NOK.

+ The Q’s defense of its business model, leveling the playing field for Samsung (all of the Q’s partners) against the dominance of NOK and supporting major industry innovation should be of prime importance to Samsung (& all other NOK competition), the carriers (CDMA/ 3GSM), and the general public at large.
