Dell occasionally uses temporary kiosks to judge market reaction to products but they never sell through other retailers. Direct Marketing has always been their business model and they have not deviated from it. Since this business plan has made them the most successful computer marketer there doesn't seem to be much reason for them to change it now. Michael Dell has commented on the subject often and has explained why Dell doesn't sell through retailers.
