Fwiw, I think Trump will find a way to extricate himself from the mess. Not for the sake of the US, Israel, Iran, or world, but for his own sake. Donald always does what's best for Donald.

We'll see what happens, but even if Bibi has been blackmailing Trump into escalating the war, Trump has some big leverage against Bibi since he can cut off all financial and military aid to Israel. So my working hypothesis is that Trump finds a way to declare victory and thus salvage what he can ahead of the mid-terms. But he has to do it soon, before the closed Strait brings down the world economy.

Of course another possibility is that Trump thinks he can cancel the midterm elections 'during wartime'. That would be low, even for the Donald, but this is a guy whose motto is 'whatever I can get away with'.
