nterDigital Inc. is currently involved in extensive global litigation with several major technology and media companies, primarily over patent infringement related to video compression, wireless communications, and streaming technologies.

Key Ongoing Litigation
The Walt Disney Company: InterDigital has filed multiple lawsuits against Disney and its subsidiaries (Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+) in the U.S., Germany, Brazil, and the Unified Patent Court (UPC). InterDigital has recently secured several injunctions against Disney in Germany and Brazil related to streaming technology. Disney has countered with an antitrust lawsuit in Delaware, alleging InterDigital used an anticompetitive scheme to extract excessive royalties.

Amazon: Litigation began in late 2025 across the U.S., UK, Germany, Brazil, and the UPC. InterDigital alleges that Amazon's FireTV, Kindle, and Prime Video services infringe on patents related to HDR and video compression. Amazon initially filed pre-emptive suits in the UK and Brazil to establish "fair licensing rates".

Hisense and TCL: In February 2026, InterDigital initiated lawsuits against these two major TV manufacturers in Germany, Brazil, and India. The claims involve intellectual property tied to a joint TV licensing program with Sony, specifically regarding HEVC, VP9, and AV1 video compression formats.

Lenovo: The companies have been in a long-running legal battle in the UK and Germany regarding Standard Essential Patents (SEPs). While an injunction was awarded against Lenovo in Germany in 2024, an appeal in the UK continues to serve as a key reference for determining FRAND (Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory) licensing terms.
Transsion: InterDigital sued this Chinese mobile phone maker in October 2025 in India, the UPC, and Brazil over cellular SEPs and video coding technologies.
