No investment company puts in 35 million in a ‘non revenue’ company if they are not absolutely sure how to get their money back and create multiples of their original investment.

The company already had 35 mio in cash itself - checkmark, it has 70 patents ( just heard a venture capital professional claim that every patent is a million dollars) - checkmark, it is close to commercialization and partners with global Fortune 500 companies - checkmark.
The stated official reason of ‘acceleration of commercialization’ is very general and used in the past .
Moreover since the cash wasn’t really needed and the timing surprising, there must be other more ‘constructive’ reasons unknown to shareholders : acquisition , ‘stealth’ equity involvements, institutional pressure …?
