Attorney to attorney. A lawyer calls up plaintiffs attorney and says, hey our client is considering purchasing the property whose owner owes you money. They have loads of dosh and they want to know if they buy the property and settle the debt outstanding whether your client would drop the case. Then they have 18 more wells to get up to snuff and would propose using your company to do the drilling as there's no hard feelings and you guys did a good job from all accounts.

Their client goes. F Yes, We just want our money, and we get a client with loads of dosh who wants us to drill 18 wells? F yes again !

A paper gets drawn up saying "if you do this, we do that, you pay us this and we drop the case, that triggers the purchase order for drilling services at 18 wells".

Job done. It's not hard.
