I was a math/stats major some years ago and do SAS programming as a day job. I'm very logical. You can't start a thought with an assumption and then claim it to be a solid argument based on something not said. That whole paragraph is flawed.
Quit your supposing and GPTing and ask the guy the question. I don't know how many groups could fit the bill, but isn't it possible that by eliminating a company, you're implying who it might be.
