I've owned DE for roughly two years and have done nicely with it. It's a small part of my portfolio of about 20 individual blue chip stocks and several funds. I've followed CAT, a fine company, closely for more than 50 years. DE makes tractors as CAT does. CAT focuses on heavy construction, while Deere is about 70% agriculture. CAT overlaps several of my funds -- especially the DJIA and the S&P -- which is one reason I never bought it. Caterpillar is the 2nd biggest component in the Dow. Diversification is important to me.
"bar: Do I recall that you have done well with Deere (DE)?"
