A few times a year I will have a customer ask me how they can open a file created by Pages. These are almost always resumes that were sent in as part of a job application. Apple Pages can save a document in Word format which, as you note, is much more prevalent in the professional word. A candidate sending in a file in an Apple proprietary format gives them one strike against them.

Mac has its own Pages, which I've never tried. Most professional writers use Word.
