Tier ones would have worked with Lebby if he had gotten a working pic. They don’t care where it comes from as long as it works. The idea of that he would’ve been cutting into their profits is probably wrong for the majority of the transceiver companies because they add the transceiver portion to the already existing pic.

But the complexity was too great for little lightwave and so they will find companies to take their polymer modulator and incorporate them into a pic that the transceiver companies will then take a look at.

In other words, it appears Lightwave lost 1-2 years trying to make a 4x200 PIC themselves.As I said yesterday that is a big hit.

While we may get some announcements, the work itself will take quite some time as these companies have to get up to speed with working with these polymers

These go-between companies very well could be small photonics oriented, researchers. Or they could be larger companies with vast experience. We will find out. Nevertheless none of them are skilled at working with polymer modulators so I wonder how that plays into it. Surely it is a major factor.

The fact that nothing has been announced already along these lines does not suggest that any of these companies are chomping at the bit, as surely YVES has been talking to them at least casually for months now

That’s my take so far but I do need to review what happened yesterday. The max capacity kept me out and I’ve just been reading what people have summarized.
