I fully understand the disastrous feeling that many shareholders are experiencing in this situation. However, in my opinion, it is overly simplistic to label everything as fraud and deceit. The journey LWLG has undertaken since 2017 to put polymers and photonics on the map is truly remarkable. The technology holds immense potential, and in a time when CO2 reduction and ecological footprints are becoming increasingly important, data centers and their infrastructure are on the brink of major changes.
Michael Lebby is undoubtedly a brilliant scientist who has significantly contributed to the solid foundation that exists today. But let’s be honest: as a CEO, he has fallen short, particularly in communication and strategic leadership. This is likely one of the reasons the Board of Directors has now chosen to take a different direction.
With heavyweights like LeMaitre and Dupont on board, LWLG now has leaders who, in my opinion, are better equipped to lead the company through the commercialization phase and secure the promised contracts. It is possible that a few months from now, we’ll look back and realize this was the best strategic move the Board could have made.
The vision of a commercial leader and that of a scientist were simply too far apart, and Lebby is now facing the consequences of that disconnect. What is needed now is clarity about where we stand and swift action to move forward. The strong foundations laid by Lebby provide a solid base, but it is now up to the new leadership to deliver results.
“Variety is the spice of life” is a fitting expression in this context. Sometimes, change is necessary for progress. I remain hopeful that this difficult period will lead to a better future for LWLG.
