To keep it short and simple (esp. at a sleepy 2 A.M.): your comments, and the article, are good stuff. The average science-consuming citizen (i.e. everyone) should have at least a passing familiarity with the issues covered herein....I may pick up a copy of the book referenced ( https://www.amazon.com/Boom-Bubbles-Stagnation-Byrne-Hobart/dp/1953953476 )....and Feynman is right again, as he tended to be: https://todoist.com/inspiration/feynman-technique ....and don't many of us recall where we were when something profound occurs, such as a viewing of Brazil? In my case, it was in S.L.O. (Cal Poly territory) (along with Kiss Of The Spider Woman, if memory serves)....Americans, especially, need to feel less awkward around science, and the transformations it has wrought. The survival of species, especially our own, is at stake. The messy details (research mgmt. and design, e.g.) can be vexing, but they aren't insurmountable.
