For me it is about understanding the fundamentals both the biotechnology and financials.

I have originally bought into $AVXL pre-split and saw absolutely no justification for the first run up and sold. I bought in again after at a much lower and more rational valuation

Have repeated that a few times actually with an eye on the Chaiken Oscillator, which is a derivative of volume and price that can give good indication of money flows turning.

No secrets, just cold blooded objectivity, interest in and ability to acquire new knowledge with a good level of understanding, which now only rarely goes bad for me. But that’s only on the back of a couple years of learning the hard way a few decades ago.

It doesn’t mean I call every biotech I invest in correctly, some percentage still goes wrong at the decisive pivotal trial readout despite my best efforts. This is why i keep a biotech only portfolio trying to select and balance for overall gain despite big losses in some.
