Yes, very few of the Shark Tank (or Dragons Den in all the other English speaking nations, all of which are franchised from the original show from Japan "Tigers of Money") deals as presented in broadcast actually result in a final deal with the VCs (the Sharks, Dragons or Tigers) on the show, and even those that do result in a deal almost never are under the terms broadcast on the show. Detailed DD either sinks the deals entirely, or leads to significant revisions in terms.

When seeing shows like Restaurant Impossible or Kitchen Nightmares, it is amazing any of the featured restaurants actually survive past the flood of guests drawn by the publicity. All of the restaurants featured are pretty much functionally dead by the time they appear. That makes for good TV. Those that do "make it" are really bucking the trend and are minor miracles.
