Because they are not here to kill the company with stupidity or to cheapen their jobs and make it only about share price when that is basically the surest way to end up in a pile of lawsuits, made to look like they are what Adam Feuerstein lies and says they are.

The great thing about the short argument is they are bad if they do what shorts accuse them of, and bad if they do not. Gets them either way, but the way you suggest would only fuel the lawsuits, feed the lawyers and give the shorts more opportunity to argue they are only out for themselves and this is purely a fraudulent commercial venture rather than an effort to validate a science.

I get that the route that makes us all poorer doesn’t feel very good, but it is likely the best route to avoid complete dissolution on the rocks of all manner of inadvertent destruction. Doubtful that allowing shorts to mess all of us over, including them, is some means to actually “get rich quick”.
