being deep Naked Short at this day and time just doesn't make any sense to me.



I'm not keen on how naked shorting works, other than they are fake shares sold to manipulate price. If they are fake (not backed by real borrowed shares) then why would they need to be covered? Seems like a blank check for crooks with no requirement to close the position. How closely are the failed-to-delivers monitored and enforced?
