I don't think a decorator would have caught the sub floor problem. As to the need for more electrical outlets, the decorator may have missed that too. The need is more for convenience, having to set up and move appliances along the counter tops. I'm a single man and do not mind counter clutter (arguments about that are known to be a leading cause of divorce).
The granite counters require more attention and care than quartz or other solid countertops (refer to divorce above).
As to Architectural Digest, I think the homes and furnishing are too ritzy and high end for Joes like me or possibly BnB. You may have Bergdorf Goodman on speed dial.
I subscribe to Fine Homebuilding and the Journal of Light Construction and have found many practical ideas for building and decorating. Howsomeever, the publications are aimed at General Contractors and craftsmen so they're not go-to for decorating.
