You’re not listening to facts. That is all political nonsense. Doesn’t matter if we reduced our footprint, the world is developing rapidly and the entire planet is oozing more and more carven from every pore of human activity and it is catastrophic. For the US it will be easy to change, but some people will have to change and they do not want to do so. They are sitting atop huge reserves of oil and they do not care about the planet, they care only about their wealth and retaining it. But if the rest of us wish for our children and grandchildren to live on a planet that can sustain them and give them normal pleasures and in a way that they will not curse all of us throughout eternity for being incredibly selfish and horrible stewards who should be damned to hell, well, then we need to do something major that is well within our power to do. If we do not care about morality and live like insects or are happy to be a pestilence on this earth for all eternity, then sure, ignoring it is fine.
