I wish a trial could be as quick to do, but I've never seen it. Part of the reason is no doubt the cost of having hundred of trial sites all opening practically simultaneously. Much has to do with the size of the trial that the regulators insist on. With many forms of cancers being simultaneously tried the regulators may very well want the trial to include many hundreds, if not over a thousand patients. If the company either takes in a BP partner, or dilutes heavily, they could do the trial in a hurry, but most companies will spend at the rate they're bringing in revenue, so it doesn't happen that quickly. Certainly they'll need to put some money in, but stock holders will complain if too much dilution is used.
