As for small markets with all the TV money they get. Teams are making serious profits by not investing in the team in my opinion. I don't think any team, in fact baseball themselves was setting a floor of 100 million in there offer to the players. I agree a small market team can't have the payroll a big market can, but I also think a small market team can have 100 million payroll very easily, and it is a joke when there teams have payrolls of 40-50 million, that is just absurd in my opinion. They get so much from the tv deal and regional and national alone, that should more than cover 100 million before we get to ticket sales and concesssions and merchadise and the gazillion other revenue streams they have. Small market teams I'm tired of the excuses they need to compete they can do that by simply spending I believe they have the money.
I get a team who stinks not spending alot so you tank for a few year try to get good veterans on short-term deals and get prospects at the deadline and keep stock piling international and draft picks, but teams like brewers, now and I know they can still make imporvement there is no reason not to add a bat or two nobody is asking for them to go out and get nick castellanos, but a couple of solid bats could help. And right now is there window, if your not gonna take advantage of the window you have with these pitchers than why bother running a operation. You don't get the threesome you have everyday, you also have two excellent releievers that anyone would want in hader and willliams, that alone should make you competitive in a weak division.
I don't know how good the brewers farm system is but if I were them I would mortgae it to get a matt Olsen there I really believe he is the bat that could be a game changer for there lineup. You get him for 2022 and 2023. The way I see it you got three years, organizations like this have to be smart, so you overspent these three years than you break it down when the pitchers hit FA, and if peralta is going well then you trade him. Maybe you trade them in 2024 if Olsen leaves, and recoup a bunch of prospect than, but by bare minimum this brewers team should be all ijn in 2022 and 2023 and so far we haven't seen them do anything but subtract, and that shouldn't happen when your in there stage of win now in my opinion.
