Yup. All this spending really makes you wonder about the true state of MLB's finances. The dark cloud needs to be lifted and the books exposed once and for all.
I've been a fan of a small market team long enough to see how it all works. Sure, some teams are tanking or not opening the wallet, but to deny there's a huge gap between what large market teams can achieve vs the Cincys, Milwaukees and Clevelands is ludicrous. It's no surprise that the off season FA signing period is a depressing time for small market teams, as they watch some of their best players pack their bags and bank accounts.
Spend away. This time will soon pass and the season will begin and the carasscos and mccanns and undoubtedly some of this year's crop that looked so good at Thanksgiving will be fodder for another season of bitter posts.
