It was not that long ago ((late 50's) that another branch of science (semiconductor physics) Made a similar leap from discrete electronic components (vacuum tubes to diodes-to integrated components-see patents) -eventually to microprocessors, all of which required new thinking but now looks like it was just pretty obvious-basic science. Well, it was not simple but we did it. The same kind of thing will happen here in CNS human systems thinking (IMO). The discrete components to full integration analogy works well enough.

Todays (one at a time medical thinking) will have to make the leap.
