I hear you and agree with you on being careful about industrial policy. I actually could speak professionally on this subject. But suffice it to say, we’ll never be a centrally planned economy or be at the risk of government controlling any specific industry. Frankly, it’s the absolute opposite problem - have to control the fat cats from dipping into the gov’t coffers.

Solyndra was bad, but that project was mismanaged. It was also funded to promote the development of solar power, which is always very risky to develop a sector, but considered in the public good. Even large companies in the private sector fail - there’s always that risk.
