Wow, just dove a little deeper on those Intel micro-ring modulators from a breakout video on Integrated Photonics (scroll about 80% of the way down towards the bottom of the page to find this video, it's approx 15 min long)

1) they appear to be all-silicon
2) they are extremely temperature sensitive so they have to use electronic IC controlled heaters to compensate for temperature changes and fine tune and stabilize the resonant wavelengths
3) they drive 4 wavelengths (WDM) from one Integrated Laser, so each lane can hold 4 micro-ring modulators, so therefore at 25Gbs they get to 100Gbs per lane, thus a device with 4 lanes would be at 400Gbs
4) they say they could potentially scale to 8 or 16 wavelengths from one Integrated Laser
