My guess is that unless NY has become a total totalitarianism, the pharmacist is incorrect. You have a prescription. Both products are applicable. How in the friggin hell are you forbidden from having the right to chooce, especially since V is cheaper?!

I would ask him to disclose the kickbacks that he / pharmacy receive from generics.

Two more things:

What was your price for gV / V (when you received it)?

Please also do the freezer test - put both pills in the freezer until they freeze and see which is more clear - I think they'll be nearly identical, but the smell is where you'll see (smell) the difference.
