After what happened with Woodford, there is no way on earth LP would have let Duffy anywhere near her secret sauce unless it was nailed down that he could not take that information elsewhere.

Thats why I believe a deal, be it BO or partnership, has already been agreed in principle.
If I remember rightly, Basin Street Blues was being adamant that a deal was already done back in Nov 2018

I believe LP would not sell at a low offer and BP (Merck) would not buy at high offer until approval

As we were nearing approval I think LP was offered help (Duffy) to get to that stage (before another BP trys to make a move)

Also whilst here at NWBO he had chance to validate the chances of Direct gaining approval.

To me the big question is, why did Merck keep his job open for so long. Surely a company needs to fill vital positions as quickly as possible, so as not to impeed progress.

JMHO but with Sawston, Bosche going to Netherlands, Duffy moving back to Merck, it all seems to fit that something big is about to happen very soon
