I don't know where they run today, butt Green Tortoise used to run a regular bus service from Seattle to at least the LA area. This was in the '90s. I don't recall it going to SD, just to somewhere in LA, and Portland, Seattle, Bay Area. Apparently it's still in business. I just don't hear of it much anymore.

And clearly the Starlight is a better ride.

When I think of Green Tortoise, my mind goes back to the acid test buses of Ken Kesey as described in Tom Wolfe's The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. IIRC, those were CONverted old yellow skool buses. I watched a video that had CONtemporary film footage of the acid test buses and ~OUTTings. Wild stuph.

And, hay, I'm not dumping on Jersey Mike's. They are obviously very popular. I only tried them ONCE and I found the bread was dry and tasteless and I have never tried them again. Maybe I will give them a second chance at another location. I know they have several locations in LA, one at Westwood Village. I'll give one a second shot and report back. I have seen two of them on El Camino, so I can try a local one.

I also ought to give Firehouse Subs a try. I think I did several years ago when they were new-ische, butt it evidently didn't make much of an impression on me as I can't recall what I thought of them. Obviously nott enuff to return. I'll give them a second chance too.

Butt I think I'll pass on the Green Tortoise. Knott innerested in attaining bedbugs and lice.
