It is weird that this burg does nott have even one decent bakery - bread or pastries. No Hole Foods here either, butt that is nott as surprising as the lack of decent bakery fare. The breads in the grocery stores (which are really very good as grocery stores go!) is atrocious.

DaSquaw is knott a bread baker, otherwise I'd CONsider bankrolling her to open a gourmet bakery here. There is a demand and as I wrote, peeple here have munny to spend. They just opened up ANOTHER micro-brewery and it's packed. A quality bakery I wood think could do very good. As well as an authentic Cali-quality Mexican joynt.

I'd love a good European bakery here with a variety of breads, salted poppyseeded horns, French madelines, pain aux raisins, kolache, poppyseed cake, pastries, rings/kringle(famous to Genentech folks!)/strusel, and cookies.

If I knew anyone here who liked to and knew how to bake this stuph and was willing to gett up at 3AM every weekday and Saturday to start making the stuph, I'd bankroll them to open up a bakery here. Butt running a bakery is no 'second career' for retirees. Waaaaay too much work and horrible hours.
