Edit: To be very clear, in the Optune trial treatment group:

At just 24 months after the last patient was enrolled, only 12.2% (n = 57) of 466 patients were still alive. (Only 3.4% (n=16) of 466 had survived five years by that time) Most of the 16 probably also compromised the 57, and yet they claimed 13% (n = 60) would still be alive at five years from time zero.

(Note: At 24 months from time zero, only 37.3% (n = 174) of 466 Optune patients were still alive.)

If you can't tell Novocure was playing games from above, it's easier to tell with the SOC ("Stupp" protocol) group below, because Dr. Stupp was also protecting his stats from further disclosure in that group.

At just 24 months after the last SOC patient was enrolled, only 7% (n = 16) of 229 patients were still alive. (Only 0.09% (n = 2) of 229 had survived five years by that time) Most of the 2 probably also comprised the 16, and yet they claimed 5% (n = 11.5) would still be alive at five years from time zero.

In other words, somehow over zero to three more years, depending on each one's time of enrollment) of the 14 to 16 patients alive between 24 months and 60 months from time zero, only 2.5 to 4.5 would (supposedly) die by 60 months from time zero.

(Note: At 24 months from time zero, only 26.2% (n = 60) of 229 SOC patients were still alive.)

The reason for this insanity is because Novocure utilized extensive censoring and therefore essentially made 6% of the 466 Optune patients immortal for KM purposes.

In effect they could say 6% of the Optune group would live 1000 years for KM survival purposes. Do you think any patients trying to decide whether to initiate Optune therapy would know this?
