Progesterone is a potent antagonist of S1R.

Using an S1R antagonist can block out the effect of an S1R agonists, which is the way that a preclinical study can filter out the effects of e.g. DZP S1R agonism to see if the drug continues to have a particular effect or not.

In a previous post I referenced a study that found the therapeutic effect of DZP disappeared when murines were S1R antagonised to block the equivalent DZP agonistic effect.
