I think you need to dive deep into DD regarding Amarin patents, Orange Book, and what keeps generic companies at bay. This has been discussed in great detail. Additionally you can read the lawsuits filed against AZN and all generic drug producers. The patents involved in these lawsuits DON't even cover the reduction in cardiovascular disease patents...which are now supported by the R-I study.

The R-I study strengthens the cardiovascular reduction patents beyond any of the other prior patents that where strong enough to cause TEVA to settle for 2029 and for AZN to not launch into the very high trig market.

It's inconceivable any other omega 3 formulation will ever get another cardiovascular risk reduction patent. The obviousness of the invention is unmasked by R-I trial results.
