How were there shares to borrow when no brokers kept an inventory of this stock?
Only supposedly matched trades remember?
There also may very well be billions of shreds of evidence in the dividends.
I noticed you used the word "significant" and that is not an absolute.

What? There were hundreds of billions of shares available.

so they just naked shorted the shares until the price dropped and then they just bought them back on the open market at the end.

There is not one shred of evidence that any significant NSS in CMKX ever existed."
