Hours after a tearful Alabama woman accused Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore of sexually assaulting her nearly 40 years ago, the former judge gathered with supporters at a volunteer fire department near his home in northeastern Alabama to label the allegations “absolutely false.”
By his side, as always, was his wife of 32 years, Kayla Moore. But this time, she spoke up.
“He has never one time lifted a finger to me. He is the most gentle, most kind man that I have ever known in my life. He’s godly. He’s loving — and everybody in this community knows it,” Kayla Moore, 56, said, looking around at the people gathered that night. “These are our church members, these are our family, these are our friends, these are people that know him just like I do.”

Trump Family to Save $1 Billion Under New Tax Plan

On Thursday of this week, Republicans in the House of Representatives were finally able to pass their disgusting tax reform package. Who’s gonna be the biggest beneficiary of that? Well, if you said rich people, you’re absolutely right. In fact, according to a new analysis by NBC News, Trump and his family will personally save about $1 billion due to the new policies in the Republican tax package. Meanwhile, the rest of the country, those of us who don’t fall into that top 1% or even the top 5%, those of us in the bottom 95%, we’re essentially getting screwed harder than we could ever imagine. Because in addition to people like Donald Trump and his family saving $1 billion, there’s also specific tax breaks and tax cuts for people who use private jets.
Meanwhile, teachers in this country are losing their ability to write off supplies that they have to buy with their own money for their classroom. Let me go ahead and explain how that works real quick too, in case any of you don’t know. My wife is a special education teacher. She spends probably well over $100 every single month out of her own pocket to buy shit for her classroom because there’s no frickin’ money in the State of Florida to provide the things that teachers need. I have a lot of teachers in my family. I have a lot of friends who are teachers, and the story is exactly the same with every single one of them. Now they won’t even get to write that stuff off. Why? Because rich people need a tax break for using private jets because Donald Trump and his idiot kids need a tax cut because they don’t wanna pay an inheritance tax when daddy finally kicks the bucket and they take all his money. This is theft, folks. This is outright theft from the bottom 95% to give it back to the top 5%.
In addition to all that stuff, we’re looking at $25 billion immediately cut from Medicaid, health insurance for the poor in the United States. $25 billion will be cut immediately upon presidential signage of this piece of legislation, from poor people so they can’t buy health insurance. In all my years of studying politics, of reporting on politics, this is the most disgusting thing ever. This is the most disgusting thing ever. That’s the end of that sentence. I have never seen any group of Republicans in this country, in the history of this country that I have studied, ever try to pull off such a grift on the American public, but that is exactly what happened in the House of Representatives yesterday. This piece of legislation is going to take everything away from the bottom 95% to give it to the top 5%.

And the biggest loser in the GOP’s tax plan is . . . humans
Corporations are people, my friend. Both Mitt Romney and the Supreme Court told us so years ago.
Still, they left out one key fact: It’s way better to be a corporate-person than a person-person. At least when Republicans are reshaping the tax code.
Republicans love cutting taxes. They’d cut all the taxes in the world if they could. But the rules that allow senators to pass their tax agenda with only 51?votes require setting priorities for who gets the most generous cuts, or any cuts at all. This week, the party made its top priority abundantly clear.
It chose corporations. By a long shot.
Both the House tax bill — which passed handily Thursday — and the Senate version are heavily weighted toward business. Both bills would slash rates on regular corporate profits, “pass-through” business income (currently taxed at regular individual rates) and overseas profits that get repatriated. They also provide other tax breaks for companies, such as allowing full and immediate expensing for qualified investments.
Of course, Republican lawmakers and administration officials promise that these corporate giveaways will really, truly, honest-to-goodness primarily benefit us regular humans, especially humans in the middle class.
That’s because, they claim, corporate tax cuts will unleash a wave of business investment and therefore economic growth, most of which will trickle down to the little people-people.
It’s hard to find an independent economist who buys this. Even corporate executives won’t back up this story.
At the Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council meeting this week, a Journal editor asked audience members to raise their hands if their companies planned to invest more should the tax legislation pass. Only a smattering of hands went up.
Gary Cohn, the director of President Trump’s National Economic Council, looked out at the crowd with surprise.
“Why aren’t the other hands up?” he said, laughing a bit.
This was no one-off embarrassment. A survey of 300 companies this summer similarly found that a tax holiday on the repatriation of overseas profits was more likely to lead to share buybacks, mergers and paying down debt than investment and hiring.
It gets worse. The Senate plan isn’t just more generous to companies than it is to individuals. It effectively takes from low- and middle-income individuals to give to corporations.

By his side, as always, was his wife of 32 years, Kayla Moore. But this time, she spoke up.

Trump Family to Save $1 Billion Under New Tax Plan

On Thursday of this week, Republicans in the House of Representatives were finally able to pass their disgusting tax reform package. Who’s gonna be the biggest beneficiary of that? Well, if you said rich people, you’re absolutely right. In fact, according to a new analysis by NBC News, Trump and his family will personally save about $1 billion due to the new policies in the Republican tax package. Meanwhile, the rest of the country, those of us who don’t fall into that top 1% or even the top 5%, those of us in the bottom 95%, we’re essentially getting screwed harder than we could ever imagine. Because in addition to people like Donald Trump and his family saving $1 billion, there’s also specific tax breaks and tax cuts for people who use private jets.
Meanwhile, teachers in this country are losing their ability to write off supplies that they have to buy with their own money for their classroom. Let me go ahead and explain how that works real quick too, in case any of you don’t know. My wife is a special education teacher. She spends probably well over $100 every single month out of her own pocket to buy shit for her classroom because there’s no frickin’ money in the State of Florida to provide the things that teachers need. I have a lot of teachers in my family. I have a lot of friends who are teachers, and the story is exactly the same with every single one of them. Now they won’t even get to write that stuff off. Why? Because rich people need a tax break for using private jets because Donald Trump and his idiot kids need a tax cut because they don’t wanna pay an inheritance tax when daddy finally kicks the bucket and they take all his money. This is theft, folks. This is outright theft from the bottom 95% to give it back to the top 5%.
In addition to all that stuff, we’re looking at $25 billion immediately cut from Medicaid, health insurance for the poor in the United States. $25 billion will be cut immediately upon presidential signage of this piece of legislation, from poor people so they can’t buy health insurance. In all my years of studying politics, of reporting on politics, this is the most disgusting thing ever. This is the most disgusting thing ever. That’s the end of that sentence. I have never seen any group of Republicans in this country, in the history of this country that I have studied, ever try to pull off such a grift on the American public, but that is exactly what happened in the House of Representatives yesterday. This piece of legislation is going to take everything away from the bottom 95% to give it to the top 5%.

And the biggest loser in the GOP’s tax plan is . . . humans
Corporations are people, my friend. Both Mitt Romney and the Supreme Court told us so years ago.
Still, they left out one key fact: It’s way better to be a corporate-person than a person-person. At least when Republicans are reshaping the tax code.
Republicans love cutting taxes. They’d cut all the taxes in the world if they could. But the rules that allow senators to pass their tax agenda with only 51?votes require setting priorities for who gets the most generous cuts, or any cuts at all. This week, the party made its top priority abundantly clear.
It chose corporations. By a long shot.
Both the House tax bill — which passed handily Thursday — and the Senate version are heavily weighted toward business. Both bills would slash rates on regular corporate profits, “pass-through” business income (currently taxed at regular individual rates) and overseas profits that get repatriated. They also provide other tax breaks for companies, such as allowing full and immediate expensing for qualified investments.
Of course, Republican lawmakers and administration officials promise that these corporate giveaways will really, truly, honest-to-goodness primarily benefit us regular humans, especially humans in the middle class.
That’s because, they claim, corporate tax cuts will unleash a wave of business investment and therefore economic growth, most of which will trickle down to the little people-people.
It’s hard to find an independent economist who buys this. Even corporate executives won’t back up this story.
At the Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council meeting this week, a Journal editor asked audience members to raise their hands if their companies planned to invest more should the tax legislation pass. Only a smattering of hands went up.
Gary Cohn, the director of President Trump’s National Economic Council, looked out at the crowd with surprise.
“Why aren’t the other hands up?” he said, laughing a bit.
This was no one-off embarrassment. A survey of 300 companies this summer similarly found that a tax holiday on the repatriation of overseas profits was more likely to lead to share buybacks, mergers and paying down debt than investment and hiring.
It gets worse. The Senate plan isn’t just more generous to companies than it is to individuals. It effectively takes from low- and middle-income individuals to give to corporations.
