Yesterday I was asking the very same question and I got some interesting responses. See particularly OBM's points. I think the interest here regarding Cisco (and other telecom equipment manufacturing co's) is because they may be sued by the Cables and/or need to indemnify them for damages they incur if the Chanbond lawsuit is successful in proving infringement.

All kinds of interesting possibilities as to how the various legal & corporate entities may approach this dilemma come to mind.

Patent infringement occurs when another party makes, uses, or sells a patented item without the permission of the patent holder.
