You know for all the praise Jeter has been getting. Damon in my opinion has had just as good of year or better so far.
I mean look at the numbers, they are both hitting over .300. Which really that's all the evaluation of batting average I need to see. The most overrated statistic I have ever seen.
Damon has more runs scored 97 to 90
Damon Has More Homers 22 to 10
Jeter has a slight edge in RBIS 78 to 73. And Damon is hitting from the leadoff spot.
My conclusion is it is close, but I would give the edge to Damon #'s over Jeters. Just want to point out that Damon has may have had more value from a number perspective then Jeter has had in 2006. Damon should be getting more credit then he is getting in my opinion. All is just my opinion, and I could always be wrong though.
