Matt, I just followed this thread after finding out why Greg S got the boot. Now I won't contest the banning of someone whose excessive posting becomes detrimental to the community as a whole. But I will contest the banning on the grounds of double-standards.

You see, there is a moderator of this one board who has repeatedly sent harassing private messages to at least four members now. As far as I know, most if not all of them have complained to you, only to get a response from you saying, "Ignore him." Unfortunately, this moderator seems to be able to override the Ignore feature on IHub, thus forcing the recipients to resort to "mental ignore."

Now I'm sure this moderator still provides useful services and information whenever he wants to. However, his behavior clearly constitutes harassment, and I don't think anything can make up for it. At least Greg S is arguing something that he passionately believes in. Even his signature to me is just as benign as residents of the District of Columbia sporting license plates that say "Taxation Without Representation." (OMFG! Treason!) But the moderator is clearly exhibiting immature behavior at best, dangerous at worst.

Bottom line: Why does this moderator continue to have an active account? Why is this person allowed to continue acting as a moderator of a thread when he is clearly unfit to be one? And why should Greg S be banned on a charge that IMO amounts to civil disobedience? Just because Greg personally rubbed YOU the wrong way?

To me, the TOU standard should be applied equally. If some leeway is allowed for passions and tempers to flare within reason, that's fine. If a strict standard is necessary to keep these forums from degenerating into the useless drivel that dominates most Internet posting forums, that's fine as well. But I will not idly sit by and see someone whom I've respected for so long get booted while at the same time see someone who doesn't deserve an ounce of respect remain on these forums.

Tenchu

P.S. - The name of said "moderator" will remain unmentioned for the time being. I'm sure you know who I'm talking about, along with others who have been personally involved, especially involuntarily.
