( after all, not many say hold stocks forever ) your appreciation would have been around 300%, or $100,000
turned into $300,000. If you had the same investment in
DUK, it would have been worth $111,682 based on today's yield of 5.68% and no stock appreciation in those years.
Which would you prefer? No one is forced to "put up with
not recieving a dime in income from their investments."
They do so for the potential of performance that dwarfs
investing for income.
