Good point, but my point is still valid as the Ballard Bldp founder started out in the 1980s with the current PEM, Proton Exchange Membrane fuel cell design that I believe even predated Ballard being used first at Nasa. I can recheck my sources and text book references here at my office and online if you like?

PEM fuel cells were not a science experiment 40 years ago, I think Nasa was already using them in real Apollo missions in the 70s? Adapting them to low cost production and improving the catalysts (using less platinum), and adapting them to cars in the 1990s was was a science experiment, yes. And so far that experiment has failed to capture the vehicle markets.

Hard to claim Ballard fuel cells (versus MVTG) are commercially viable when they have never once had a positive PE? YET!!!!

MVTG fuel cells will cost 80% less to manufacture, eliminated the Achilles heal PEM-membrane and its cost, eliminated the Hindenburg H2 hydrogen fuel source need in favor of a non flammable easy to transport and store at room temperature and pressure, liquid fuel, eliminated the supper expensive platinum catalyst, and the expensive bipolar membranes, and the CO poising problem, and they work!!!

We are only a month away now from seeing an MVTG fuel cell powered vehicle running!!!

Tic toc!!!!
