Seems to me everything that could possibly be said that is even remotely related to the option question has been said, resaid, and been repeatedly repeated. Pass or fail what is more impotant is will NOK and/or Samsung pay up or go to arbitration? When will Sharp's new agreement be completed/announced? When will ERICY and IDCC announce a 3G agreement - triggering clauses in Nokia's and Samsung's contracts pertaining to IDCC's patents in that technology?
IDCC has been notoriously conservative (and I know they stated the usual legaleze to cover themselves) whenever they throw around numbers in press releases or at conference calls. Thus, I believe they expect NOK and Samsung to pay without going to arbitration. As best I have been able to estimate, the arbitration/payment deadline could be as early as mid June or as late as mid September (based on the assumption that the language in those contracts is similar to the ERICY contract language). I would love to hear others opinions on these matters.
