Green Hydrogen-Powered Forklifts Drive Industrial Decarbonization in Brazil

Plug Power CEO: Is PLUG Stock Ready for a Hydrogen-Fueled Comeback?
The “go-to guy” to answer this question is Amgad Elgowainy from Argonne National Laboratory. Amgad has decades of experience in this field, and for the last 10+ years he hasn’t done many other things than analyzing the prohibitive cost structure of hydrogen infrastructure and hydrogen vehicles
The rest of the world is moving away from fossil fuels. The US can either be ahead of the curve and develop technologies now or be behind and dependent on other countries.
The money you make selling power to utility might offset the cost of a new battery pack ( or electronics (inverter) in your car). Besides, it would be more efficient for you to use that power rather than sending it back to the grid.
Batteries will get better. But, range extenders may make sense for long range vehicles, especially as infrastructure is being built out.
Do I think Plug should work on them? No.
There are other companies better able to offer a packaged solution.
They just closed down Hyvia this year. So, you do not think that Batteries will also get better? Plug has to be lazar focused at this point and only do what they can make a profit on. Otherwise, there is no real reason to be in business. They can only be environmental warriors so long before OPM dries up and you can only fool so many people for so long!
You realize, I didn't post the article about fuel cell range extenders. It's in the post you replied to.
Maybe Plug was too early to the market or the technology was too limited at the time. Whatever the reason, as technological advances are made the viability should be revisited, as long as it's a problem. Advances aren't made because people give up the first time something is tried, and doesn't work.
You do realize Plug tried this. First, they did test and that failed to produce business. Second, they worked with a retro fit company that also went under and lastly Hyvia in Europe that went under. If Plug is to survive, they need to do with what makes sense and works. They do not have Billions any longer to play around with.
Can anyone name one vehicle with a hydrogen range extender?
I didn’t post the article about hydrogen range extenders. I answered your post about if there was one out there.
I showed there are at least two. I didn’t post all the articles on companies working on them.

It's not risk management. Risk management would be holding or selling. You don't buy more to manage risk.
You buy more if you expect the price to go up.
edit
You don't buy, if you expect the price to go down.
So, they expect it to go up!

Project Quantum Leap is producing results
Earlier this year, management announced an expense-reducing initiative dubbed Project Quantum Leap. In addition to reducing its workforce, the cost reduction strategy entails reductions in both discretionary spending and capital expenditures. Management projects that Project Quantum Leap will lower costs by about $150 million to $200 million annually.
Sixteen members of the Simply Wall St Community placed Plug Power’s fair value between US$1.49 and US$4.07. Yet, persistent negative cash flow remains a central risk that could influence outcomes for everyone participating in the discussion.
rick - No mention of Plug ?
I see First Element Fuel mentioned.
I see Iwatani mentioned
I see Air Liquide mentioned
But no mention of Plug .
Too bad these have nothing to do with Plug. There needs to be a whole lot of infrastructure buildout for the trucking industry to get onboard. I hope they are more successful than Hyzon and Nikola.
Beyond deploying vehicles, Hyundai has made significant investments in hydrogen infrastructure. Its partner, FirstElement Fuel, opened the world's first dedicated hydrogen truck refueling station at the Port of Oakland last year. This state-of-the-art facility uses liquefied hydrogen and cryopump technology to rapidly refuel up to 200 trucks within 10 minutes. With a daily capacity of 18,000 kilograms of hydrogen, it outstrips typical passenger vehicle hydrogen stations by more than ten times.
Toyota is also heavily investing in infrastructure. Partnering with Japan's Iwatani and France's Air Liquide, Toyota is building an ultra-low temperature liquefied hydrogen refueling station in Ontario, California. Meanwhile, at the Port of Long Beach, Toyota operates the Tri-Gen facility, which produces both electricity and hydrogen by processing food and municipal waste, an innovative approach to sustainable energy generation.

Hochul awards $11M for clean hydrogen innovation across New York
https://www.fingerlakes1.com/2025/08/22/hochul-awards-11m-for-clean-hydrogen-innovation-across-new-york/#google_vignette
The five funded projects include:
GTI Energy – Awarded over $220,000 to study New York’s potential for underground hydrogen storage, a key component for long-duration, large-scale clean energy storage.
National Grid Ventures – Awarded $2 million to install and test the state’s first commercially deployed, 100% hydrogen-fueled linear generator at the Northport Power Plant in Fort Salonga. The generator will run for one year to assess performance, air quality benefits, and grid support.
Plug Power Inc. & Verne – Awarded $2 million to co-develop cryo-compressed hydrogen distribution trailers, aimed at cutting transportation costs and improving hydrogen access for small and mid-sized warehouse and distribution operations.
Stony Brook University – Awarded more than $4.9 million to demonstrate a low-pressure, ambient-temperature hydrogen storage system at Northwell Health Hospital. The project will enhance energy resilience for critical care facilities.
SWITCH Maritime – Awarded $2 million to develop New York’s first hydrogen fuel cell-electric ferry for zero-emission transportation on New York City waterways.

Chile Submits $2.8Bn Hydrogen Tax Credit Bill to Congress
https://fuelcellsworks.com/2025/08/20/green-hydrogen/chile-submits-2-8bn-hydrogen-tax-credit-bill-to-congress
Chile’s government has formally submitted a US$2.8 billion tax credit bill to the Chamber of Deputies, aiming to catalyse demand for domestically produced green hydrogen and its derivatives. The legislation—tabled on August 19 by the Ministry of Finance—would distribute credits via six competitive auctions between 2025 and 2030, targeting companies that purchase green hydrogen, ammonia, or e-methanol from newly built national projects.
He wasn't asked if he got cash from the DOE.
Talk about hearing what you want to.
He was asked how the different legislation on the tax credits affected Plug. And, if they got the loan yet (it's a loan guarantee).
It seems to me Andy answered the questions.
They are getting tax credits.
They haven't used the loan guarantee, but are going through the process.
He didn't evade the question. He said they were already using the tax credits and making sure the Texas plant qualifies for the DOE loan guarantees.

As part of its commitment to improving emergency response and transportation system resilience, Caltrans conducted a formal lab evaluation of the system at its Translab facility in Sacramento. The test was led by the Electrical Quality Assurance and Source Inspection (EQASI) branch, which confirmed uninterrupted operation for 5 days and 18 hours under a consistent electrical load-a major increase from the 4-hour average provided by traditional battery backup systems.
Record $12.5B investment set to make Africa the clean energy workshop of the world

The change is being fuelled by Africa’s unmatched natural energy resources. The continent receives some of the world’s highest solar irradiation, has strong wind corridors, mighty rivers for hydropower, geothermal hotspots, and rapidly growing hydrogen production hubs. These resources offer Africa a rare chance to skip over older, polluting models and go straight to cleaner, modern methods.
