TMG.V / TMGEF - thanks for bring this one up. I bought a small position at 0.10 on the CAD exchange when it dipped on Sept. 7. I sold half at 0.135 the other day, but holding the rest for now.
TRT - bought some for a trade at 5.66 after selling a small position earlier this week at 7.90 before earnings
ESP - sold 1/3. You've had a good read on trading this one, so inclined to follow you. Plus, it was 5% of my portfolio (a bit too much for my taste).
Definitely like the $39 million of backlog that's supposed to occur this coming fiscal year. Like you said, they forecast $35 million last year and did $35.5 million this year, so probably a reliable forecast.
ESP - solid Q: 0.36 EPS, quarterly dividend increased to 0.15, backlog similar to last Q at $83M, even though revenues down a bit.
Nothing crazy, but should help put a floor under it at ~$15/share
ESP - nice trading, added more around 16 yesterday too.
Maybe I'm a sucker and Q4 is a flop, but I can't much else this cheap (yes, I know the liquidity sucks):
-This will be likely be the highest annual revenues since ~2013 (comparatively, EPS high point was ~2.50/share)
-They have ~$18M in cash/investments, which is more than they usually have
-They were easily able to pay out dividends of 1.00/share for years with less EPS and cash on the balance sheet, plus the current dividend is pretty much covered by interest on their CDs/bond holdings...
-Backlogs related to defense/aerospace stuff continues to have a decent outlook
Based on the above, I'm pretty much expecting a dividend increase here at some point
ESP - I'm holding for now, but certainly understand your profit taking. I'm looking for closer to $20 before I consider taking some off the table
MPTI - yeah I sold half at 19.71. Might be getting ahead of itself
ESP - added in high 14s, I like this one going into the September year end report. Good backlog and the sector seems strong (MPTI, TAYD, ULBI, etc.).

TAYD - yeah that was an excellent Q, missed my bids in the $18s too. Can't complain though with the position I have.
MPTI - thanks, my wild ass guess on margins is that it's related to customer concentration/balance. Like most small aerospace/defense companies they have high customer concentration. Thinking they have better margins with their 2nd largest customer? Here's from the 10Q:
For the three and six months ended June 30, 2023, the Company's largest customer accounted for $2,723,000, or 26.9%, and $5,057,000, or 25.9%, of the Company's total revenues, respectively, compared to $2,110,000, or 29.9%, and $4,173,000, or 28.3%, of the Company’s total revenues for the three and six months ended June 30, 2022, respectively. For the three months ended June 30, 2023 and 2022, the Company’s second largest customer accounted for $1,662,000, or 16.4%, compared to $884,000, or 11.3%, of the Company’s total revenues, respectively, and for the six months ended June 30, 2023 and 2022 the second largest customer accounted for $2,671,000, or 13.7%, compared to $1,803,000, or 12.2%, of the Company’s total revenues, respectively.
TAYD - I've still got half, but like you say the main near-term hurdle is the tough comp. Agree that 0.50+ EPS on 10M+ revs is the goal, which should be possible with the backlog. It's cheap no doubt, but has a weird history of misses.
MPTI - I've held onto my whole position. If results continue to improve, as the backlog suggests, they may print some pretty big bottom line EPS numbers (like you said, shares outstanding is tiny and each 28K that reaches the bottom line is an additional 0.01 EPS). Comps are a cakewalk going forward too.
BSQR - yeah could've been worse on the bottom line with that revenue drop. Agree, do something with the cash/company.
MPTI - nice Q, EPS of 0.47, backlog up. you got some still?

PFIE - added a bit recently in the 1.30s. Good results. I think this one may warrant a higher multiple than others in the energy sector.
TAYD - thanks to all who brought it to board over last few years. Was able to get an avg. of 8.41 last year and sold half yesterday at 25.30 when it finally reached EV/EBITDA of ~8. Tougher comps going forward too.
FRD - joined you here yesterday at 10
OPXS - had a bit, sold half at 3.71. Thanks to all who brought it up on the board recently.
AMS - yeah good call and not surprising. I was hoping folks would sell it off more today so I could get a lot more, but no luck.
BSQR - agree, I added a bit more after hours. Not expecting a huge pop, but I liked this line from the PR: We are evaluating all options for creating value for shareholders including exploring if our business could offer synergies to others, if acquisitions could accelerate our growth, and if we should return capital to shareholders
Granted, it could just be language to appease shareholders and they won't do anything. Or they'll do even worse and acquire a horrible company.
SGOV - in the unlikely event of US default due to debt ceiling bickering, what happens here?
AMS - joined you at ~2.76 over the last week or so, seems better than a lot of other stuff I've looked at recently
PLPC/POWL - nice call on these; hope you still have POWL too. I've only got PLPC unfortunately.
TZOO - still have half of my original position that I plan on riding out for now. Will get more interested in taking profits around $10 I think, but could be wrong.
TZOO - solid Q, going to continue to hold what I have. Expecting a bit of a drop off in Q2, but still expecting over $20 million in revs and EPS > 0.15.
Line from press release:
For Q2 2023, we currently expect growth in revenue and growth in operating profit to continue year-over-year. During the pandemic, we have been able to lower our fixed costs. We believe we can keep our fixed costs relatively low in the foreseeable future.
COLFF/GCL.TO - SSKILLZ, any opinion on this? I know you owned it a long time ago. Thanks.
RTMAF - thanks for your input, I was thinking around 2 CAD is where it gets interesting, so we are fairly aligned.
BSQR - agree, I'm still hanging around with this one. I wasn't enthused with SG&A increasing in part due to marketing, but it is what it is. Seems attractive relative to a lot of others.
ULBI - still think this is a decent play at some point this year, but a couple of Q4 CC notes going into Q1 next week:
-they had a cybersecurity issue which affected their operations for 2 weeks, so there's going to be some costs there. Doesn't sound like they had to pay out much if anything to the randsomware people, but it was a bit vague. They have cybersecurity insurance with a 100K deductible and the key question is how well it covers lost operational time. Sounds like they will eat costs in Q1, with potential for recovery later
-the supply chain issues still seem likely to affect them through Q2. They think Q3/Q4 will be better, even said something like returning to historical profitability.
Won't be surprised if folks sell after a nasty bottom line Q1 next week. Will look to load up then.
RTMAF - what price would you consider re-entering? I'm not tempted at the moment.
I'm was amazed that I was able to unload my A shares at 4.00 on the CAD issue the day after earnings. Some of the message boards remain wildly optimistic.
TSRI - bailed out of the rest of my position this morning around 8.30. Q was pretty meh. Makes sense with the weakness across the entire staffing sector.
TZOO - ended up selling 1/2 today at 6.29
TAIT - I bailed last month at some point. Didn't have a great justification, just felt like other microcaps were getting cheaper. Would be selling today if I still had it.
TZOO - nice to see, still holding and will continue to do so. Perhaps I'm being complacent. Agree that the metaverse thing will probably suck. However, I already have too much cash/bond ETFs and I think it's got some upside still.
TZOO - I owned some before the report at cost basis of ~5.22. Could've played it better. Report was good, trailing EPS is close to 0.50. I'm holding all my shares for now.
FRC - you guys are bolder than I. Isn't the question: do shareholders get wiped out like SIVB and SBNY? Rather than if they go bankrupt (absolutely, it looks like the government will backstop and cover the depositors)
SCHW halted...
SIVB/SCHW - very informative, thanks. Action on SCHW concerning...
PLPC - sold half at 110.83. Think folks might be getting a bit carried away here today. Great Q no doubt though.
GENC - sold another half today, so 25% of original position left. Surprising strength.
Q1 turned out decent, but don't think it justifies this rally. Maybe they are going to sell the business finally or something and word got out.
Rarely trades this high relative to tangible book, so there's that too.
