I'm gone. Like a steam locomotive rolling down the track, I'm gone, gone, and nothing's going to bring me back. I'm gone. 06/29/2023

You are not pissing me off, shajandr. I am a rational man and what you say about Intel's status in the process and architecture race is true. Krzanich was Intel's own version of organizational COVID-19 focusing on diversity, drones and extramarital affairs instead of meritocracy and taking care of Intel's real business. I know Krzanich well. We both joined the firm in 1982 and worked together, him a manufacturing rat and me a product manager. He was a prick then and was still a prick as CEO. Intel Culture swirled down the pot.
Pat Gelsinger is in charge now. I also know him and he is the polar opposite of Krzanich in all ways. He worked as Andy Grove's Technical Assistant and later as CTO. He knows how to turn Intel around but it is a big battleship and will take time. I think he will succeed.
I am aware of Su and probably more of the history of CPU's than the average pedestrian.
I joined Intel in 1982 and retired from there when I was 46. The Intel/AMD rivalry still remains strong.
Yet, AMD has done an admirable job with their CPU. My hat is tipped to them.
Hi Janice,
The M1 chip is a CPU designed and manufactured by Apple. It is based on the ARM core but is definitely an Apple design. Macs have had Intel Core processors for years before this year.
I bought the one of the last of the Intel-based MacBook Pros less than a year ago. But reviews of the new M1 Macs have been really good. It outperforms the last Intel CPU for sure.
As OMOLIVES said, a M1x chip is on the horizon which will be even speedier but I'm not guessing it would be that much based on how I guess you use the computer. If you were doing video or major photo editing, I'd recommend waiting. But the M1 is definitely fast.
Buy as much RAM as your conscience will allow. Also, I recommend the SSD storage instead of the rotating hard disk drive if they even offer the hard disk drive any more. You are running a 2011 Mac. This computer would seem like a fighter jet by comparison.
Read it:
https://www.accesswire.com/647624/Enzolytics-Inc-and-Intel-Corporation-Co-Author-White-Paper-on-Use-of-Artificial-Intelligence-for-Social-Good
There is no mention of "About Intel Corp.". Intel did not participate in the PR.
At the end of the PR there are two attributions:
About Enzolytics, Inc.
and
About BioClonetics Immunotherapeutics, Inc. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Enzolytics)
There is no "About Intel Corp." The PR was issued by Enzolytics alone, Intel had nothing to do with it.
Yet still, no mention of Enzolytics being funded in any way by Intel Corp. There are 11 start-up firms listed in the article. Enzolytics is no where to be found. I'll believe it if and when Intel announces it.
Janice,
I'm willing to bet you are dealing with Wi-Fi interference from a neighboring Verizon customer. The fact that the problem has come and gone in the past and worked between 3 and 6 today hints that the neighbor may have been off line during the times the problem wasn't evident.
I am more sure than ever you need to get a Verizon tech out there to sort this out. I remember you saying the landlord had to give a Verizon tech access to a closet. Your problem may have started then.
I was aware of this funding by Intel Capital but Enzolytics is not mentioned anywhere in the article nor in the list of companies at the end of the piece. If Enzolytics had received funding, they would have been listed.
They are just a use case among a lot of use cases for Intel's free toolkit.
Intel's OpenVINO™ toolkit has been in development for about 3 years but the first stable release was in March 2021. Thus Intel is busy promoting the software toolkit, 2 months into stable release.
The toolkit is a free download and can run on various platforms. Enzolytics is not alone in being shown as a use case by Intel in various industries. This use case page lists more firms used by Intel as use cases than I can count (be sure to click on "show more" at the end of each industrial segment shown). There are 21 in the Health and Life Sciences segment alone.
Intel is promoting their AI capabilities and tools to sell more computer hardware.
Again, Enzolytics isn't part of some small group highlighted for using the toolkit. And is hardly in a "partnership" with Intel.
Here is a link to all the companies who have been highlighted by Intel:

You can try holding the "option" key while clicking of the "fan" icon at the top of the screen. See if there is an option for something like "stop network diagnostics". That's how it was started, I'm thinking you can stop it that way.
That's beyond my pay grade. But I bet that information (all of it) could be useful to someone at Apple support.
Well, that's not helping you at all. Sorry. I think you need to call Verizon support. I know how I hate to deal with Hughesnet support but sometimes that's what you gotta do.
Try entering the name of the router as the admin name. Then the password.
OK, I'll keep trying to help until I run out of posts.
If you are willing, try the steps in this Apple support piece:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202663
Damn. I was hoping that would work. Anyway, that step is the first thing Verizon support will ask you to do so you can tell them you have already tried that. It sounds like the problem may be with Verizon. It would probably be time to give a call to their customer support. You said your Mac was up to date so I scoured the web looking for a similar problem when upgrading to Mac OS Big Sur (the latest version). I really couldn't find any documented problems like yours attributed to Big Sur. That leads me to think you should talk to Verizon.
You will know you unplugged the modem when the status lights go out. The word "FIOS" in your Wi-Fi connection indicates Verizon. Go ahead and disconnect the modem, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. If there is a problem with your router talking to your modem, this should fix it.
Janice,
Disconnect the power plug from the wall that powers your Verizon modem. Wait at least 30 seconds and plug it back in. That will reset your modem.
Also you can check your internet connection on the MAC. In the menu at the very top right of your computer screen you should see a little logo that looks like 3 little arcs, each getting larger toward the top. This is your Wi-Fi connection. Click on it (after you have reset the modem) to be sure you are connected to whatever Wi-Fi you normally use (I'm guessing Verizon gave you a modem/router so the name should have the word "Verizon" in it if that's the case). Let me know if this works.
Sure
No, Enzolytics is merely another of Intel's customers using the Intel OpenVINO™ toolkit. The white paper is promoting an Intel product, not a customer's biomed solution. Being a customer participating in a use paper does not equate to partnership.
