Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:META) said on Monday that its social media platform Threads will be temporarily closed starting on April 29 while the giant company prepares to appeal the Turkish Competition Authority (TCA) decision which forbade Threads and Instagram to exchange users’ data last March 18.

Users that have accounts in Thread and feel affected will have the option to deactivate their profile but the deletion option will not be available.

“We disagree with the interim order, we believe we are in compliance with all Turkish legal requirements, and we will appeal […] We will continue to constructively engage with the TCA and hope to bring Threads back to people in Turkey as quickly as possible,” the company noted in a statement.
