AMC Entertainment Holdings (NYSE:AMC) announced that Chairman and CEO Adam Aron, 71, experienced a minor stroke on November 17 while traveling for business in London, though he has continued to carry out his duties and remains fully engaged in running the company.

Aron received emergency treatment at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurological Sciences, where he spent two nights and was administered thrombolytic medication. According to AMC, doctors found no signs of cognitive impairment, with no impact on his memory, communication abilities, or information processing.

The stroke initially resulted in slurred speech, and Aron has since begun speech therapy, showing ongoing improvement. The company emphasized that he “remains in full command of AMC” and continues to serve actively as Chairman, CEO, and President.

Aron returned to the United States over the weekend and attended the Los Angeles premiere of “Avatar: Fire and Ash” on Monday. He then resumed work at AMC’s Kansas City headquarters on December 3. Throughout his recovery, he has maintained regular communication with AMC’s board regarding both his health and company matters.

“I am a poster child for listening to one’s own body, and immediately seeking emergency medical care at the very first signs of any potentially serious abnormality,” Aron said in the statement.

AMC said it issued the update to address speculation that had arisen from Aron’s recent public appearances but noted it does not plan to provide ongoing updates about his recovery. The company currently operates around 860 theaters and 9,600 screens worldwide.
